wilde calm records is proud to present some say, a recently discovered song from the archive of arthur russell. the track was produced and mixed by arthur in 1985 for a solo project of steven halls that was originally intended for release on rough trade records. legendary disco producer bob blank recorded and engineered the project at his connecticut-based studio. some say features arthurs classic cello basslines, cracking boom bap drums and stevens floating vocals and synth pads. in true arthur fashion, the song abrubtly stutters, slinks and lurches halfway through for steven to complete his buddhist pop mantra. the b-side features an extended rework of some say by pocketknife using arthurs boss dr. rhythm dr-55 drum machine.

canadian artist paolo rocco makes his debut on saved with people say. from the top there is a unique seductive pad that pans creatively over the cut back percussion. the bass line enters early on and stands out with its original pattern and alternating frequencies, working well with the crisp clap that programmes itself in and out. the vocals are what makes the track. they are catchy just like the bass line, and are processed effectively, maintaining a nice, fresh groove.
over on the flip side is a remix from label boss nic fanciulli that utilises the original parts effectively and maintains an energetic pace with smart programming. both mixes have been creating a real buzz across scene.

this time label boss jacek sienkiewicz goes under his alias reserved for club-oriented tracks, which is, well, recognition. we got accustomed to jaceks slight changes of style, or rather changes in his approach to music over the years, and this record is no exception: ditching his trademark, long, painstakingly elaborate and complex tunes in favor of probably the most straightforward, uplifting, fresh tracks in a long time.

it is no secret that ben watt has chosen to close his acclaimed label buzzin fly to new music after ten great years as one of the uks leading dance independents. but the label has chosen to go out with a bang with one final single. unearthed from the vaults are two dazzling tracks from cornerstone artists, rodamaal, and manoo and francios a. rodamaals fortune was originally completed back in 2007 but scheduling problems prevented it from being released at the time. produced by the franco-portuguese trio (rocco, darkmountaingroups alex santos and manoo) it is a stark but emotionally-charged deep-techno masterpiece, that deserves its place alongside their other classics for the label, musica feliz and insomnia. on the flip, and originally produced in 2005, is other places a long-lost track by manoo and francois a. full of summer shimmer and heavy bass tones, it was produced by the duo during their heyday at the label, and was a secret favourite of label boss, ben watt. two perfect swansongs. buzz buzz.

1nce again is back, this time with the first single in a double package! this is the first of two 12 inches containing one of our absolute favourite tracks from prolific producer ken duke aka dj duke. closer was orginally released back in 1994 on dukes power music records and the amazing klubb kidz mixes quickly found its way into many djs record bags, including label boss mad mats who rates the flava dub as one of his favourite deep house cuts of all time. if u ever heard mats spinning a house set chances are big you have heard this mix blasted loud! first up for remixes duties this time is mark seven, parkway/parkwest label owner, a true djs dj, a passionate music lover and record collector extrodinare. the so close mix of closer is deep house at its finest, an homage to the classic prescription sound keeping it ultimately atmospheric. the stalker mix continues on the same vibe yet develops into something more meaty and pumping during its course. together with the original klubb kidz flava dub and the mark seven mixes this release got everything a true deep house head needs.
